Set To Drop: Air Jordan 9 Retro “Particle Grey”

Michael Jordan’s ninth signature model is a significant one. It came at a transitional period in the G.O.A.T.’s career when he famously switched out his Spalding for a Louisville Slugger. That didn’t halt his eponymous sneaker line, however, as Jordan Brand still released the court-ready Air Jordan 9 while Mike was chasing his dreams on the diamond.

Now – almost 30 years since its initial launch – the brand is gearing up to release a brand-new colorway of the Air Jordan 9. One might say its scheme is an homage to the Birmingham Barons, the Chicago White Sox’s minor-league team, that took a chance on Jordan in 1994.

The upcoming Air Jordan 9 “Particle Grey” comes dressed in a black textile upper with contrasting leather overlays done in the titular “Particle Grey,” which runs from the mudguards up to the ankle collars. The two-tone scheme is offset with bright red hits, which come in the form of “Air Jordan” lettering on the tongues, and rubberized globe logos at the heels. The heels also feature black “23” embroidery.

The upper sits atop foam midsoles that match the “Particle Grey” mudguards, while the outsoles are done in stark-white rubber.

Mark your calendars – this new take is slated to drop both in stores and online at DTLR.com on June 21st in men’s and grade school sizing.
